Sakura Wars is a Japanese steampunk media franchise created by Oji Hiroi and currently owned by Sega. It is focused around a series of cross-genre video games. The first game in the series was released in 1996, with five sequels and numerous spin-off titles being released since then. The series — set during a fictionalized version of the Taishō period — depicts groups of women with magical abilities using steam-powered mecha to combat demonic threats.
In addition to the video games, several television series and original video animations have been produced depicting either a story about a specific video game or about the series as a whole.
In 2020, Bandai Spirits released HG kits of select Spiricle Armors, the fictional combat powered-suit mecha of the franchise. This was part of the promotion for the new Sakura Wars game for the Playstation 4, led by Sega and involves many other companies, such as Kaiyodo and Amakuni.
