Articulation[]
- The head can swivel on a double-sided ball-and-socket joint.
- The torso can tilt back and forth or sideways (in an extent) via a unique waist joint, as the upper chest is meant to accomodate with the LED unit.
- The shoulder joints can raise upwards, or pull out and swing frontwards/backwards.

- Swing on a peg-and-socket joint.
- Raise horizontally.
- Each shoulder armor features an opening upper panel for better clearance.

- Can swivel on a ball-and-socket joint.

Weapons/Other Gimmicks[]
- The cockpit hatch can be opened to reveal pilot figurine.
- Any of the weapons can be wielded by the hand parts.
- Each palm and the weapon hilts/handles feature flip-out tabs for increased pegging stability.
- Both beam rifles can mount on the shield or on the rear waist armor for storage.
- Hyper bazooka can mount onto the rear waist armor for storage.
- The left slot for the backpack's beam saber rack can be optionally replaced with shoulder cannon.

- Be wielded by either of the forearms via an adapter, though the default position is on the left.
- Be built in either right side up or upside down by rearranging the shield adapter.
- Mount onto either the backpack or the rear waist adapter for storage.
- The translucent camera eyes can light up with the Gunpla LED Unit (sold separately).
- The effect parts can mount onto their designated weaponry.
- The RX-78-02 Gundam can mount onto Action Base 1 (sold separately) via an adapter.
Tips & Tricks[]
- For better results, some or most of the details are needed to be applied & panel-lined with Gundam Markers and/or Mr. Color paints.
- Topcoat (Mr. Hobby recommended) can be used to protect applied stickers/marking decals and if any, painted details.
- If using matte/flat-finish topcoat, it is advisable not to spray on the clear/translucent parts - can be done by masking or spraying topcoat while the said parts are separated.
Variants[]
- Reissues of the kit from September 2018 onward will feature a blue-colored Bandai Spirits logo. Later reprints from mid-2022 will also feature an additional Bandai Namco logo.
Notes & Trivia[]
- This was the first MG iteration of the RX-78-02 Gundam unit.
- While it also comes with an additional late type version of the Beam Rifle, the MG only features the early type version of the unit.
