The Entry Grade (EG) (2020) RX-78-2 Gundam (Painting Model) is a 1/144 scale kit released in 2021, as an exclusive for The Gundam Base.

Kit Features & Gimmicks

Articulation

• The head can swivel on a double-sided ball-jointed neck.
• Shoulder joints can raise upwards.
• The arms can...
  • Swivel on a ball-and-socket joint.
  • Raise horizontally.
• The upper arms can rotate.
• Elbow joints can be bent up to 110 degrees.
• The manipulators can swivel on a ball-and-socket joint.
• The waist can tilt sideways, and back and forth in a limited manner.
• Front and side skirt armors are poseable to avoid interference with the leg joints.
• The upper thighs can swivel on a ball-and-socket joint (though the backwards articulation is limited due to the non-poseable rear skirt armor), and/or rotate on each piece.
• The knees are double-jointed.
• Ankles can tilt sideways (in a mostly limited manner), or frontward on a c-clip connection.

Weapons/Other Gimmicks

• The Beam Rifle can be wielded by either of the hands, though the default position is on the right.
• Beam Saber hilts can be optionally removed from the backpack as handheld weapons. (Beam Saber effects sold separately)
• The shield can attach onto any of the forearms (default position is on the left) or onto the backpack.
  • The shield's grip can be rearranged for the left hand to hold.

Tips & Tricks

• For better results, some or most of the details can be painted and panel-lined with Gundam Markers.
  • In that case, you can paint it with any color scheme you desire.
• Topcoat (Mr. Hobby recommended) can be used to protect painted details and/or marking decals, if any.
• Despite what the package says about not needing tools to trim off the parts from the runner, using nippers are recommended for a cleaner cut.
• Exercise caution while posing the upper legs: Due to the hip joint axis' thin piece on the ball joint, posing it roughly causes it to snap off.

Customizing-based tips

• The Beam Saber effect parts from the SB-13 runner can be used on the kit's Beam Saber Hilts.
• The Hyper Bazooka from the EG Gundam G-3 (Solid Clear) can be used on this Gunpla.
• The Water-slide decals from the "10 Crafting Techniques to Improve Your Gunpla Building (ガンプラが絶対にうまくなる10の制作テクニック)" mook can be applied on this Gunpla.
