1-144-Gundam-Mk-II-paint-and-cement

Painting and Gluing required.
Take note that this kit requires both painting (with Gundam Markers and/or Mr. Color Paints, but Water-based paints are safer) and cementing (with Super Glue or Mr. Hobby's Mr. Cement) on the parts.

The 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam (or RX-78 Gundam) is a 1/100 Scale Gunpla released in 1980.

Includes[]

  • RX-78 Gundam
    • 2 Beam Sabers
  • Beam Rifle
  • Shield
  • Bazooka
  • Transformable Core Fighter
  • Rocket Launcher (with 2 missiles)

Kit Features & Gimmicks[]

  • The kit features 10 points of articulation that consist of the shoulders, elbows, hands, and knees.
  • Core Fighter can convert into Core Block to combine with the Gundam.
  • The Rocket Launcher features a spring-loaded firing gimmick.

Tips & Tricks[]

  • For better results, all of the details are needed to be painted & panel-lined with Gundam Markers and Mr. Color Paints.
  • Exercise caution while assembling/pivoting the Core Fighter's wings: The rod joints are very thin enough to break if handled with excessive force.

Variants[]

  • Later reissues of the Gunpla from September 2018 onward will feature a Bandai Spirits logo.
  • The Gunpla was also released in Thailand in 1980, with the "Made in Japan" tag on the runners being altered into their country's name, as they also manufacture the Gunpla there.
  • The mold also saw release in Korea in 1981, with a similar alteration on the manufacturer origin, and it also features an altered packaging.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • First 1/100 Scale Gunpla ever released.
  • First Gundam kit to feature a Core Fighter gimmick.
  • The included Rocket Launcher is a model kit-original weapon, which is not featured in the Anime.
